|[eclipse.org-planning-council] RE: EclipseCon memory stick and Ganymede M5|
So, what's the current status regarding priority 3 (the packages) on the stick. For me it seems like with the new Modeling package, there will be no point in providing more than 1 Platform (Windows) of the 5 packages only (C, Java, JEE, RCP, Modeling) .
This would add up to
690MB based on the 20080217 epp build
the biggest contributors being Modeling (227MB) and RCP (164MB).
What to do with the rest of the size? I'd love seing that decision be made
by the Community of all Projects and not just the EMO, if possible. So can
we collect the data:
Size of Ganymede:
820MB Ganymede/staging today (JARs only, no pack.gz, but there seem to be lots of
obsolete files from previous releases, e.g. there is 7 different versions of
the buckminster.core plugin).
505MB After "mirror update site" (JARs only, no obsolete files)
647MB .jar and .pack.gz (note: Ganymede M4 was 665MB, so is something missing??)
142 MB Ganymede M5 (.pack.gz only)
So that's probably less than most people might have thought...
Find attached a "Mirror Ganymede" script that can be used to re-compute sizes if necessary.
