2018 Candidate:
Ivar Grimstad

While I may be new to the Eclipse Foundation, I am no newbie to open source organisations and development. I have been a member of the Java Community Process (JCP) since 2007 and participated in several expert groups during the years. Currently I am the specification lead of JSR 371 - MVC 1.0 and have a seat in the Executive Committe.

At Eclipse Foundation, I am currently the PMC Lead of EE4J and expect to be more and more involved as these projects are being set up. I think it is important to have someone with background from the JCP and the JCP Executive Committee to represent all the new committers being introduced to Eclipse Foundation as a result of EE4J.

We are all massive consumers of open source technologies in the software industry today, but not necessarily contributing back as much as we should. I believe that open source foundations such as the Eclipse Foundation are essential to get open source contribution on the agenda. I see it as my mission to influence developers on all levels to see that contributing to open source is as natural as consuming it. After all, that is what it means to be a good cicitien in the software industry.

Ivar Grimstad is a Java Champion and JUG Leader and software architect working as Principal Consultant for Cybercom Group in Sweden.

He is involved in the Java Community Process as a member of the Executive Committee, Spec Lead for JSR 371 (MVC 1.0) and has served as Expert Group Member for a number of JSRs, such as JSR 375 (Java EE Security API).

Ivar is in the Eclipse Enterprise for Java (EE4J) PMC and involved in Eclipse MicroProfile as well as being an Apache NetBeans Committer.

Ivar is always focusing on quality and on using the right tools and technologies for the right task to optimize the software development process.

Ivar is a frequent speaker at international developer conferences.
