I've been tinkering a bit with screenshots over the weekend.
https://twitter.com/hashtag/eclipsemarsscreenshot?f=realtime
I'm thinking that the tags should be
#eclipseMarsScreenshot
#eclipseMarsVideo
#eclipseMarsTip
I'll take a crack at a video later today.
Years ago, I wrote a little plug-in that resizes the workbench
window to 1024x768 to take consistent-size screenshots. Why
1024x768? First... why not? Second, its a decent size for including
in a presentation: a good balance between providing enough space for
stuff and having actually-readable text.
I extended this plug-in to actually take and the screenshot as well.
I'll make this available when I introduce the idea to the community.

How about we make this a contest?
Post a screenshot of Eclipse Mars in action on Twitter with the
following tags: #eclipse #mars #screenshot
We can do something similar with tips and tricks: #eclipse #mars
#tip
and videos: #eclipse #mars #video
I'll aggregate them in regular blog posts. We can aggregate
screenshots into a video (or animated gif).
The screenshot/tip/video with the most favourites at the end of
the cycle wins a prize. Maybe a t-shirt.
Thoughts?

FWIW, I still remember one of the NetBean developers doing a
'screenshot of the week' which showed some cool feature he was
implementing. If we had the 'Feature of the week' or 'Tip of the
week', we could easily promote this out to the community.

I think it would even be worth just to
what's cool in eclipse. Don't need to limit ourself to Mars.
I agree. But for marketing (actually, more like psychology)
reasons, you are more likely to get eyeballs if you focus on
what's new.
But regardless, the most important point is to create a steady
drumbeat of bit-sized content.
