I think there are a number of points here:
1. I think we all would agree having two web sites, mosquitto.org and
eclipse.org/mosquitto, is not sustainable. I hope the goal is to get to
one mosquitto web site.
2. I agree redirects will be important. If we move forward with
eclipse.org/mosquitto we need to make sure existing links work.
3. Our preference is to have all eclipse projects hosting their project
web site at eclipse.org/<project name>, similar to how Apache requires
their projects to use <projectname>.apache.org
4. Regardless of the url, the current mosquitto.org site does not make
reference to being an Eclipse project. It doesn't link to the terms of
use, privacy policy, etc. I'd like to see this changed. We can also help
with making these changes. :-)
5. For the other mosquitto sites, I am not sure if you see issues moving
those to eclipse.org or you are just making us aware of them. Do you
see a problem hosting downloads or a debian repo at Eclipse? As you
stated we already host a test server so that seems to be easy.
6. As Benjamin mentioned, we can also help with a new mosquitto logo.

We might as well have a run down of the state of things at the moment.
There are four sites, mosquitto.org, repo.mosquitto.org,
test.mosquitto.org and test6.mosquitto.org.
mosquitto.org is the main site. The content itself could be anywhere.
I'm committed to not breaking any URLs though. The ability to have
downloads as an indexable directory is an extremely useful feature for
Linux distros and other build systems as Peter says, so I would not
want to give that up. This potentially goes against the mirror system
for normal downloads. The normal Eclipse downloads work fine for the
Windows executables.
repo.mosquitto.org is the debian repository hosted by the project,
with the latest version of mosquitto. It is a proper debian repository
and needs directory access as above. This is a popular resource, with
about 12k downloads of .deb files in the past month.
test.mosquitto.org mirrors the functionality of iot.eclipse.org (well,
the other way round really :) but as well as offering a broker to test
against, is also crucial in the development of mosquitto. It's just so
useful having a large stock of clients connecting and doing their own
thing and can bring out bugs very quickly on big changes. I see
iot.eclipse.org running a stable version of the broker with long
uptimes and test.mosquitto.org running the cutting edge,
in-development code.
test6.mosquitto.org is the same as test.mosquitto.org, but only
resolves an IPv6 address, so is useful for developers who want to
ensure their clients are using IPv6. It's just a DNS entry, but is
worthy of note.
I'm not entirely sure how that all fits in to the way Eclipse wants
projects to work.
On a related note, I've not been happy with the logo for a while. I've
tried some new designs myself but haven't come up with anything of
note. Is there anybody out there who could help along those lines?
