Okay, your contribution is among others forging budgets? Is that the budget for this Steering Committee, or for something else?

I was there & I am there when the Jakarta EE Budget was forged, tackling each item before it went out for a vote -- private mode. 
I was there when the new contracts were being forged on that review-- private mode. 
I am there on each review of the formal Jakarta EE announcements, the Survey results, anything that aims at communicating-- private mode.

I use the Jakarta EE git most often.  Public collaboration is my preference, past- present- future. 
Though I used to be a coder in 1995-1996-1997 so I still today understand code, I choose not to contribute to OpenSource with code. 

I was there when Java EE came to halt in 2015... Tomitribe was lucky to have beautiful supporters, thanks to them, we gained access to the paid TCK for Java EE 7.  To truly understand something, we must support it by understanding it & gaining access to it.  

I was there when a few of us chose to found the MicroProfile project that potentially led to the release of Java EE 8.

What you're saying is that you have a seat on the JCP EC. But what does the JCP EC contribute to Jakarta? What do you specifically contribute to Jakarta?

Again, accept my apologies if these are silly questions. I'm trying to understand why Jakarta has someone like an "Amelia" and what you exactly contribute. I mean, in most open source projects I see people contributing code, other people work on documentation, or create and triage tickets. Are you doing anything like that?

My name is Amelia, Operations at Tomitribe. 
Tomitribe, thanks to the JCP Community, holds 1 seat on the JCP EC Executive, I have been in that space collaborating on reviews, votes... etc  way before there was the announcement about moving Java EE to the Eclipse Foundation. 
Before Jakarta EE became the re-branding of Java EE under the Eclipse Foundation, it was the JCP body via the executive group, whose job was to protect Java EE. 

 Our seat, that of Tomitribe in the JCP EC,  is only possible by the JCP Community Members, by those voters in the JCP ecosystem who trust either individuals or companies, to stand for what is fair & push for betterment.   Currently there are 20 seats in the JCP EC.  
NOW, there is no perfect member, there is no perfect action, we can always improve. Especially, if we choose to bring others to discuss what currently is & what is not clear in the open. Hence I can answer your questions and you no longer how to wonder who I am & why I care.  

Even in today's ecosystem,  the companies listed as members have chosen to gain access to work in shaping the Jakarta EE Working Group by formally signing contracts and paying fees. Though Tomitribe pays for that access as so does all other companies, we not only fend for the ME-first goals. 

No matter the reason why someone might choose to become a contributor to Jakarta EE, we ought to step up & watch how we contribute and what we could improve (owning the task, if at all possible) given the resources at hand & the results at hand.

Contributing to Jakarta EE goes beyond code. 

Let's write a blog release announcement that truly shows a 365 story that is reflective on everyone's efforts.  
An announcement that is most caring & most understanding of the fact that many organizations work ONLY on a few Jakarta EE Specifications, that to compare to Oracle formidable contributions- you must be partnering with Oracle by working on Eclipse GlassFish, etc... 

There is more that meets the eye in Open Source. When we shed light into the things that might not be known, that ought to be known,  we are choosing to become much more responsible and as a result, our ownership as Contributors & Users increases. 
Open Source Contributing is beautiful because it is the ecosystem that allows everyone to play from the people who produce it to the companies that use it.
