Re: [iot-pmc] PMC approval request for Eclipse Tahu release 1.0.0

Thanks for clarifying. I think that makes sense in this case.

Just to explain the reason for my question: traditionally a 1.0 release is accompanied by a "graduation review" [1]. That would, most likely, mean that there had been previous releases, and those would have been 0.x releases. I do believe that a 1.0 release should offer some kind of stability. Not only technically (like API, community, development process, …) But considering that there is the Sparkplug process backing this, I believe the situation is different here.

Good for me, but I would also like to give other PMC members the chance to speak up. If they don't in the next few days: +1 from me for the release.

1)  I did notice that the project homepage you are pointing to, leads to an empty page: https://github.com/eclipse/tahu  -> https://eclipse.org/tahu -> https://www.eclipse.org/projects/project.php?id=iot.tahu

2) This is a 1.0 release, but I didn't see any previous releases. Starting out with a non 0.x release is ok in some cases (like a previous release outside of Eclipse), so I would like to understand the reasoning behind this.
> There are a couple of reasons for this. The first is that I didn't know this was a general expectation 0.x releases be officially released before a 1.0.0 release. The other is that the Eclipse Specification release process requires that a specification (Sparkplug v3.0.0 in this case), a TCK, and open source compatible implementation(s) all be available at the time of the release of the spec. Tahu is the implementation that coincides with the Sparkplug Specification v3.0.0 release. This is the first time that any open source implementation has been fully compliant with the spec which I thought deserved a 1.0.0 version.

Thanks,
Wes
