In the past we've had short and long talks. Would it be crazy to just
let all talks be the same length? Or maybe arrange for only one of the
time slots per day be longer for keynote-style talks, maybe right
after lunch?
I like the idea of having some keynote-style talks. There are some talks and speakers that deserve 1hr slots. These could be right after lunch or maybe some at the end of the day.
I'm afraid (positive!) that there will be too many submissions to just have
long talks.
What happened to the 10 minutes "super-quick-intro" talks we had couple of
years ago? I actually found some value in those talks. Of course, you can't
teach technical content in 10 minutes. But I think it's good for the "elevator
pitch" type of talk when you want to introduce people to some new project
or technology.
We eliminated them last year, no? I'm not certain they served any purpose well.
We did eliminate them since attendees did not like them. They were just too short. I would suggest we go with a minimum time of 30 minutes slots, which means 25 minute talks since you need time to change.
What did cross my mind is that we had the product showcase last year which I thought went really well. Could we do the same for projects, i.e. a Project Showcase, where projects set up tables and people walk around to find out what's going on?
We can look at this but we might not have the space. I do believe this would not replace projects wanting to have a speaking session.
