As one of the ones that responded annoyed, I would love the an announcements
list, and the ability to unsubscribe from the current list (currently that
isn't an option). The reason being, I'm on enough mailing lists that I have
to be on as it is, I don't need to get another one clogging up my in box. I do
want the important eclipse committer announcements, but I follow other lists
through the web archives as needed and only subscribe to them when they are
important enough.
The other option is to make sure that people can switch to Digest mode if they
need to for these lists. That way we aren't get bombarded every 5 minutes on
a really heated discussion.
