Martin, I for one appreciate you stepping up here to try to resolve this. I'm
happy to create another list and I personally have no problem with it. And
that looks like the solution with the highest votes. But I think we're missing
an important point here.
In total we are doing this to accomodate (as of now), fewer than 50 people out
of 932. 46 people who said they support another list (note that leaving it as
is was not an option in the survey so this number is not necessarily
representative). 33 people were "annoyed". Now, I'm not saying that we should
annoy 33 people. But how many people will be annoyed about being
auto-subscribed to another list? My guess is somewhere near the same 33
people.
It's definitely worth doing something if we can find a solution that works best
for most people, but I want to point out that as far as I can tell most of the
community hasn't really had any problem with the current usage and we've made
no study of how this change would affect feelings. If people were really
unhappy I think we'd have heard it from more than .035% of them.
