[eclipse.org-architecture-council] [Bug 250317] New: Improve disseminating information from EMO top-down

https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=250317
Product/Component: Community / Architecture Council
Summary: Improve disseminating information from EMO top-down
           Product: Community
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: All
               URL: http://wiki.eclipse.org/Architecture_Council/Minutes_Oct
                    ober_9_2008#News_from_the_EMO_.26_Councils
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P3
         Component: Architecture Council
        AssignedTo: eclipse.org-architecture-council@xxxxxxxxxxx
        ReportedBy: martin.oberhuber@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

At the Oct 9 AC Meeting [1], we discussed the problem that important
information from the EMO (about dev process changes, IP requirements, ...) is
not received by all members that should receive it.

* Wayne mentioned that information is mostly "pulled" from Wiki and Website,
but persons who don't know that there is something new cannot pull. Also,
the pull model doesn't highlight the Deltas (what changed) in a good fashion.
So we are looking for better "push" style information.

* Ed suggested a Webinar / EclipseCon talk "Everything a Committer needs to
  know"

* Martin suggested official hierarchical channels: Committers get filled in by
Project Leads > PMC > (who officially fills in the PMC's?) - There should
likely be more E-Mails to eclipse.org-project-leads. Monthly Reminder E-Mails
("Newsletters") to all Committers could also be in order. The AC as
community of Mentors should be informed via official channels.

* Michael suggested a voluntary questionnaire on the Web about important
things that committers need to know ("Eclipse Committer Driver's License")

The important point seems that right now, there are many ways of getting
information, probably too many (including Bjorn's Blog) ... we should be
standardizing on one official channel for disseminating the most important
information.
