I for one am sad to see you and the other Gitpodders go: without you this project would simply not exist. We'll have to shore up our game to keep the vessel afloat. Still, all the best with your venture. 

Theia is one of the more vibrant multi-vendor communities I've been a part of and that is in no small part your doing. Thank you!

as you might have noticed my focus has drifted a bit away from Theia recently. 

While my previous employer TypeFox is still heavily focussing on supporting clients with Theia development, the focus of my new company Gitpod is not so much on particular IDEs. 

TypeFox has a new leadership team and with that, the people engaging with Theia are changing as well (see https://www.typefox.io/blog/the-next-chapter-of-typefox).

It has been a fun experience to build this community together with you during the past years, but I have to realize that I'm unfortunately no longer able to give Theia the focus it deserves.

Seeing Thomas and Jonas stepping up and helping Marc driving the project forward is awesome and a good moment to say "thank you" and step down as the project's co-lead.

I wish you all the best and I'm sure our paths will cross again.

Today marks a new beginning for the Eclipse Theia project. I am happy to reach-out and invite two amazing candidates to join me and serve as co-lead in the project:  Thomas Mäder and Jonas Helming. 

The idea is not to replace me but to help with project leading activitie. Each of us has different, complementary skills, and areas where we will concentrate, should the nominations succeed:

Marc: IP lead for the project, interface for the project with the Foundation for these matters

Thomas: lead collaborative technical efforts to improve the framework, serve as model for others to emerge and collaborate

Jonas: Lead common planning and roadmap, marketing/selling the project better, help us "interface" better with the Foundation, build synergies

I think that, together and with the committers and other contributors' support, we can take Theia to the next level.  We hope you agree and vote yes for both candidates.

Thomas and Jonas, please feel free to add or clarify anything by replying on the list.
