I think it’s ok to keep the 1 hour in schedule, in case there are more things to discuss, but aim for finish it in half of the time. Concerning decisions, I generally think it’s ok, to decide certain things in the meeting, if appropriate and also be able to decide other things by mailing
 list or poll. Alex

 Betreff: Re: [starter-dev] Monthly Sync?

For this first session I don't have a problem with the one hour timeframe but at the long run I'm not sure if I'll be able to attend to the whole meeting.
The meeting is set for an hour. I am OK to try that out and shorten it later if needed. How do other folks feel about it though? I know committing an hour for a meeting outside of the day job, even if once a month, can be a challenge for
 some.
I also want to ensure we remain as inclusive as possible. Do people feel it’s OK to make decisions in meetings or is it better to keep the meetings essentially informal/non-binding and make any decisions here (this is what I personally
feel is right)? Alternative models are making tentative decisions in meetings but finalizing them here or making decisions in meetings and only checking for any serious objections here (this latter model is obviously the least inclusive).

Happy New Year, everybody! The winner of the Doodle poll for a monthly sync is Monday at 10:00am ET.
You'll find the zoom details and link to an agenda document there.
+1 to a monthly sync on this important topic.  I also agree with what Kito had mentioned.
Thanks and Happy New Year everyone.
I think let's wait a bit for Ivar to respond? If needed, I'll send out a fresh poll next week.

Meeting is a good idea.
If there any consensus on day of week / time?

I agree with Kito, a well defined agenda is key to this. It should be half hour, at most , also
I think it can work if we do it like a stand-up style meeting with a specific agenda and ensure that any longer topics are tracked for follow up.

Folks,
I am trying to be mindful of not starting too many parallel threads but
I think this is a topic that's hopefully very simple but important. I
think now is a good time to revisit the idea of having a regular monthly
sync. This may be a gap we should have addressed sooner and may be
essential now given the increasing recognition of the project in the
marketing and steering committees at least.

Ivar, you had ran a scheduling poll before, hopefully you got useful
input at least from the most active folks? Does it make sense to begin
holding a monthly sync maybe starting early January?

Now I am mindful this sort of thing can be a little taxing and also
takes away from async, traceable communication. I think we could
mitigate that by keeping it short initially (half hour) and sharing
 recordings/minutes here?

 Cheers,

 Reza
