I think this one is a great example. There are 8 open PRs (and 6 closed ones) on that GH repo. AFAICT only a fraction of them have transitioned their improvement to gerrit.

I have submitted a change to fix the language on https://wiki.eclipse.org/Development_Resources/Contributing_via_Git#via_GitHub which implies that PRs are actually accepted :-)
