2) I don't know Lua, so I don't know what the naming conventions
are, but paho.mqtt sounds good to me (on the basis that there might
also be an mqtt-sn API at some point).

4) if you would like to share your proposed API design changes here
when you are ready, I will feedback.
I am keen to learn about Lua, so I hope to be able to try the API
out as you make changes.
