Re: [eclipse.org-eclipsecon-program-committee] Issues
|
I don't feel _real_ strongly about 664, but ... what are we going to do
with that 10 minutes? Do we really need to "reclaim" the time? Or are
people (Scott, Wayne and Bjorn) just arguing to never have "similar" talks
repeated. (I put 'similar' in quotes, since they are just similar, they do
sound like they planned to cover different material, so I think we really
would be losing information, which is the reason I suggested allowing more
time if they were consolidated).
I'm asking in part because I think before I decline something, I'd like to
know what it's going to be replaced with. So far, there are 3 short talks
(only) scheduled during that 50 minute period. Declining 664 will leave 30
minutes free, instead of 20. Is that the goal here? Will that time be
useful for something else? With 20 minutes free, I was thinking of
offering a few to expand to 20 minutes ... but, with 30 minutes free, I
thought I should ask what the goal is, and if there's a more important
need?
Seems to me a consolidated, but time-increased talk is justifiable for two
reasons. 1. Maven is (still) a popular topic (right?) and 2. The short
talk was discussing "faceted projects API" which (while I have mixed views
on it as a project) is a new effort that I think deserves some visibility
and will be of interest to several attendees, so hate just to "lose" it.
Appreciate the discussion. Can those suggesting the short talk "just be
declined" explain why?
Thank you very much,

I concur with Wayne: keep 661 and decline 664.
