Re: [tools-pmc] EDT 0.8.2 Release Review Request

Hi Wayne,
The team wants to clean up some more defects in the next few days, so we may move the release date out a week. We will send a refreshed version of the release review document to you later. I would expect both IP Log review and release document review are complete between Jan 10 and Jan 16, then we can meet the Jan 18 release date. Does that make sense?

I've asked people to look into the jtopen problem.

You can find the project plan for version 0.8.2 here. We are facing resource shortage problem now, so the plan for version 1.0 hasn't been established.

I don't know much about signing bundles. Could you please point me to the instructions?

Best regards,

A January 11th release date is not possible. We generally run reviews from Thursday to Wednesday. I don't have a problem make exceptions, but we also don't generally start a review until the IP Log has been processed (or at least I have a good feeling that the IP team will be able to complete their review by the end of the review period).

I found a problematic library in the project downloads (a version of jtopen for which I cannot identify a CQ). This needs to be addressed before we can move forward. I have given instructions to the developer who submitted the IP Log for review.

Where is the project plan for version 0.8.2?

When does the project intend to graduate? I'd like to see a project plan in place for version 1.0.

FWIW, the project website is quite nice and informative. I see, however, on the download page, that you aren't signing your bundles. There are resources within the Eclipse community that can help you with this.

+1 Looks good to me. Appears many of your features are coming along nicely.

I was going to say "4 incubator releases sounds like a lot, when are you going to graduate"? Then saw you mention 1.0 which is I guess your graduation. Will that be your next release? When is that planned?
Are you going to want to be part of the Kepler Simultaneous Release? (If so, you're not in aggregation builds yet, are you? Or have I just lost track?).

Not sure what to say about "code contributions so far only from IBM". I don't see it as a problem, per se, because I know you are not "resistant" to new comers/outsiders. But, obviously a good thing to work toward.  If it is a matter of "one producer, many adopters", perhaps you can convince them to supply unit tests, since that'd be in their own best business interest to make sure your code runs as they've adopted it? Other than that, I've never been very good at "recruiting" ... so not much advice.

    Congratulations and best of luck,
