Well, looking at it, the CDT is ready to get rid of their old
top level. Everyone should be using org.eclipse.cdt by now. And the other
projects, Cobol and VE, are currently under review. The impact should be
minimal.

Hi Jeff,
Moving the repos will have the minimal effect. A number of
projects have done this without issue (I did GEF and participated when
modeling moved from technology).

Reorg'ing the repos is a good thing but do be
sensitive to the affects on rebuilding. for example, i fyou move a mess of
stuff around and break the builds for Ganymede maintenance, that is not a good
thing. Some care should be taken.

Thanks Anthony, all great items. Some
comments:
1) Yes, even with CDT we have everything in the org.eclipse.cdt
folder now and should be able to remove the old cdt-* folders we have
there. The only other ones that are trouble are the Cobol and VE projects,
which we are taking a close look at the moment anyway.
2) Sure. I'm still not
sure what brings all these project together under the Tools PMC anyway.
I'd say part of this exercise would figuring that out.
3) Good point. It would
help us track issues.
4) Well, the truth is we haven't had that many
meetings... But with Bjorn on board, I think we're reinvigorated enough to
have them more regularly.
And thanks for your interest in joining the PMC,
I'm not sure what are plans are yet but will let you know.
Cheers, Doug.

PMC discussion items
Hi Team,
I have a couple of Tools PMC discussion
items and it has turned into a couple more. So here we go:
1) CVS
cleanup. We have discussed this in the past, but for Galileo we need to
make this happen. The top level /cvsroot/tools is a dogs breakfast of
folders. If we look at /cvsroot/modeling, you will see what we need to do.
(GEF has an orphan folder in there was well).
2) Tools icon and
branding. Most of the other top level projects have a branding icon
that shows up in help + about. I propose we do similar branding. We can
also look at improving the tools website.
3) Bugzilla for Tools
PMC I wanted to raise Bugzillas for (1) and (2), but I had no idea how
to create the Bugzillas. We do not have a top level tools Bugzilla
component.
4) Tools PMC wiki I knew we had tools PMC meetings,
but could not find the minutes, they were on the PMC Dev list. We should
post these on the Tools PMC wiki.
Back to the last tools PMC
meeting you had on Aug 26, you state in the minutes that you were looking
for New PMC membership. I am interested. I am willing to take the lead on
all the above four items I am interested in on behalf of the GEF
project.
