Re: [sumo-user] Conflict using indirect left turn

You can define a custom shape for the indirect left turn connection (right-click the connection in inspect mode after setting the 'show connection' toggle) and also set a custom value for the connection 'contPos' attribute to define where bicycles will wait for linkIndex2.
This way you can give them a waiting position that is not in the way of turning cars (i.e. on the walkingarea rather than on the road).

Jakob

Dear SUMO community,

I have adopted and "indirect left turn" approach for allowing bikes to turn left at signalized intersections (screenshot from netedit). This allows bicycles approaching from the right side of the intersection to cross a designated crosswalk and complete a left turn. However, left turning vehicles from the opposite direction are blocked, while bicyclists wait for LinkIndex2 to activate. As you may observe in the screenshot from sumo-gui, this issue creates a girdlock in the intersection.

I would really appreciate any recommendations to help me resolve this issue.

Thank you in advance,

Stavros Kontorinis
