Re: [sumo-user] [EXTERNAL] AW: Demand generation issues (Congestion and uncongestion)

Well if you still need assistance then please explain exactly what you tried. The custom edge weights should be fine for your use case and I cannot guess what went wrong with the little information you gave me.

Best regards,

Mirko

Yes. That's where the link leads to...

Thanks for your response. Are you referring to the edge probabilities in the randomtrips.py documentation.

Hi,

did you already try to use edge-based weights with randomTrips.py? There you should clearly be able to control which part of the network generates more trips and where they probably want to go.

Best regards,

Mirko

Hello,

I need help in resolving this issue,

We are developing a simulation model of Boston in SUMO. To better analyze the results and implement our control strategy, we are considering the Boston network as consisting of two subnetworks: (1) Urban Network(highlighted part in the attached network), and (2) Suburban Network.

A map of a city Description automatically generated.png

In the base case, we want the urban network to be congested while the suburban network remains uncongested.

We are currently using a random demand generation approach using the randomtrips.py  to assign travel demand to the network. However, after testing different parameter values of fringe factor, repetition rate (p), arrival rate (period), we realized that we are only able to keep both the urban and suburban networks either congested or uncongested. We are unable to achieve the desired state where only the urban network is congested and the suburban network remains uncongested.

How can we revise the demand generation approach so that we can assign more demand to the urban network and less to the suburban network?

Thanks.

Best,

Ayo
