Re: [stellation-res] Project Planning

I was back Wednesday as expected, but swamped (so, what else is new?)

The Eclipse client integration should really be Jim's baby. Jim is primarily
a UI guy, and most of his work has been on Eclipse integration
components.

I will be responsible for the GUI client and for other Eclipse-related
work and assistance as needed. I'm continuing to study the WVCM API,
as well as the WVCM-related mail in the Eclipse archives. Here
are a few interesting bits:

The posted Team (VCM) R3 milestones include the following:
"Team API
* Investigate JSR 147 [WVCM] and propose how it can be integrated into Eclipse."

This was originally part of milestone M3 (due for release today, btw),but
was deferred to M4 (due for completion on XXX).
This work item is associated with Bugzilla #37705:

"[plan item] Improve team API.
Since Eclipse 2.0, each team repository provider adds its own specialized
commands to the Eclipse UI. There are no common APIs for a plug-in tool to
programmatically interact with different team providers. JSR-147 is in the
process of developing common API for creating and manipulating sets of
version-controlled files and web resources, based on the DeltaV extension to
WebDAV. Eclipse should support this experimental API. [Platform Team]"

Jean-Michel Lemieux was originally tasked with this item in the M3 plan;
no taskings are shown for the M4 plan.
Clearly, we should contact Jean-Michel (and probably Tim Ellison as well?)
and discuss coordination. Mark, do you want to do that?

BTW, the current FTP/WebDAV code (binary and source) is available on the
downloads page for Eclipse R3 M2 (and other builds). There is (or at least was)
apparently some sample code as well:

[Tim Ellison, Jan 25, 2002]:
"Take a look at the project 'org.eclipse.team.examples.core' and the package
in there called 'org.eclipse.team.examples.core.webdav'. That shows an
example of using the WebDAV client with authentication. "

I haven't checked yet to see if the example code is up to date with R3 M2.
