Actually, I did try it once. I run an on-line role-playing game, which
is mainly play by email. I wanted to set up some software to help with
the game, so I spent some time exploring packages for that sort of
thing.
Zope was the first thing I tried. I had an absolutely horrible time
getting it configured. My overall impression of it was that it was an
extremely powerful system, but that it was a vast overkill for anything
that I would use it for. It was *too* powerful: the necessary complexity
building a system that supports the wide range of functionality
of Zope makes it difficult to use for small, simple sites.
My inclination is towards something like Drupal, which is very easy to
install and set up. It's a whole lot less flexible than Zope, but it's
also a whole lot less work.
If you know Zope, and you feel strongly about it, I'm willing to give it
another look, as long as you agree to help with the setup and
administration.
