To make a long story short, you got it. CVS has quirks.
The documentation is in the "docs" directory of the
"org.eclipse.stellation.misc" project, stored under the "plugins" directory
in our CVS repository.
The reason for the confusing directory structure is the following:
There was a bunch of confusion surrounding our open-source release. We didn't
know the date that the technology project was going to be launched. We
finally got a note on the evening of July 3 that the site would be live on
July 4, and could we please populate it. (The OTI group that manages the
Eclipse site is in Canada, and in the midst of leaving for the Canada day
vacation, everyone thought that someone else had told us that there was a test
site ready for us to set up...)
So, my first attempt to set up the site didn't work right. The directory
structure was all screwed up. We've gradually fixed it up. But due to the
quirks of CVS, the old directories from that failed attempt continue to
linger.
