[spatial4j-dev] Spatial4j project status update

It's been a while since I've had much to say so here's a succinct list of what's going on:

1. The LocationTech move stalled this past fall when I tried to arrange for the copyright & source headers to be the same... I was mistaken on thinking they would be the same.  Same license, but Eclipse has a copyright policy that will mean every source file lists the contributors.  I have to do some work to move this further down the incubation process -- next step is basically to figure out how contributed to every file -- across renames may be tricky.

2. Nick Knize (of ElasticSearch.com) has a couple pull requests submitted; I committed one already.  We had a nice video chat a couple weeks ago.  His CLA is on file.  I anticipate he'll be making many more improvements, like the much anticipated projection support in particular.

3. Karl Wright (of Nokia.com) recently submitted "geo3d" to Apache Lucene's issue tracker for incorporation into the spatial module there.  It's obvious it belongs here, not there, so one of my top Spatial4j priorities is making that happen, starting with an Eclipse "CQ" ASAP to get the ball rolling.  Geo3d introduces shapes on the surface of a sphere implemented with X,Y,Z based internal coordinate system.  Sound familiar?  Yes, Chris & Rebecca were working on this kind of stuff.  Based on what I saw briefly, this set of capabilities is pretty sweet.

4. I'm in the process of hooking up GitHub activity to this list.  There has been pathetic activity but it should be increasing... I don't think it will be much but in any case it could be filtered out on your parts if it becomes annoying.  I'm doing this in part because Eclipse has some unease about relying on GitHub issues in particular because Eclipse can't manage/copy it easily.  So at least the mailing list will be in effect an archive issue activity.
