Re: [soa-iwg] ECF and SOA initiative

Hi Donald,

This actually is a requirement of the Eclipse Industry Work Group process,
and not a special rule of the SOA IWG. It is to ensure adequate resources
are available to help run the IWG's. The full details of the IWG process
can be found here:

Thanks Donald. I still happen to think that limiting steering group membership in this manner is unnecessarily hostile to some members (e.g. committer members).

I also understand the 'sales appeal' of membership requirements as per Oisin's note...but thinking about this and other industry working group success alone, I don't happen to think it's a good idea (i.e. why exclude people from the membership who may be *better* able to provide good input/work/ideas/code, just because they don't meet the membership class requirements). In any event, this obviously isn't the SOA working group specific (i.e. the membership requirements are for all working groups as per the process doc), so it's a larger discussion (that unfortunately I and other committers probably won't be privy to...BTW).
