[photran-dev] p2 may have gotten even worse - installing Intel compiler support

I decided to try installing Linux Intel compiler support (Eclipse 3.6RC1, Photran 6.0M7) on a Mac to see what error message so I could update the documentation appropriately.

The first time I tried, I didn't get an error message at all. I clicked the "Next" button, the status bar went across (briefly flashing "cannot complete the request" if you look very closely), and then it returned to the same dialog page, with no error message and absolutely no indication that anything was wrong.

I closed the installer dialog and tried again.

The second time, it ignored the platform filter (linux) and gleefully installed Linux compiler support on my Mac.

I remember getting an unfamiliar error message when I tried it a week or two ago. Not the same one as in Eclipse 3.5, but equally cryptic.

If someone else could try this, maybe after the RC1 build, I would appreciate it. I get the feeling there is at least one bug that needs to be filed on the p2 installer...

(FWIW, I made some comments on the relevant bug in p2 to get the cryptic error message fixed, but the p2 guys told me that a useful and comprehensible error message like "You cannot install this feature because you are not running Linux" was out of the question. So my goal at this point is to be able to tell users what to expect so at least it will pop up when they Google the error message...)
