Re: [jakartaee-platform-dev] Service Release for 8.0.1?

Ah, I see.
No need to respin it in a call then.
I will run the job to tag and stage it. Then leave some time to get it tested before promoting it to Maven Central.

Thanks Ivar,

The branch is “8.0.x-BRANCH”.

I did bring the topic up on yesterday’s (Jan 17) Platform meeting call in the closing minutes.

You’ll see it listed under https://docs.google.com/document/d/1DF0T2hbJqDNsY0v_lYFKCz-ZgHPbnMUIu6mhmt5LCJU/edit#heading=h.5vj87l6yfnz1   as:

If you think we should present it one more time that’s fine.  (I hadn’t added it to the agenda ahead of time since it was already packed full).

A couple other notes:

  • There is one additional fix (besides issue #97) already merged into“8.0.x-BRANCH”:  the one adding JAXB to the BOM.  This seems well-discussed e.g. in https://github.com/eclipse-ee4j/jakartaee-api/issues/101 and Scott Starks decided to merge it, so I’d assume it’s fine to release (which it would be releasing this branch).
  • If we need some testing..I’d assume we could notify the users asking about the BOM release in the issue and ask them to test the staging repo artifacts.   I could take a quick look too.  I think this is low risk/complexity.

Thank you !

Scott

Hi Scott, I can help out with running the Jenkins build. Just need to be pointed to the branch that contains the changes. We should probably put it on the agenda for the platform call next week just to be sure there are no objections to doing

Hi Ivar,

I’m going to pick on you with this question, and re-send (since it caught people at the end of the year):

https://www.eclipse.org/lists/jakartaee-platform-dev/msg03893.html  re: https://github.com/eclipse-ee4j/jakartaee-api/issues/97

From https://www.eclipse.org/projects/efsp/#efsp-releases-service it looks like it doesn’t require much of a review to do a Maven release.

Maybe we just need to enlist someone with the right CI/CD credentials to release to Maven Central?

Thank you,

Scott Kurz
