While there was a lot of fuzz around what seems like a Corner case with Romain, what about JUGs, why are there no JUGs beside LJC which proably got a bit of Money from the MS Merger, but what About all the other JUGs, why isn’t SouJava, Utrecht JUG or many other JUGs that are actively involved in Jakarta EE also allowed to join Jakarta EE? https://jakarta.ee/membership/members/
Does every JUG have to pay 1000 EUR or more per year?
I saw Jakarta EE also knows Guest Members, but no JUG has been invited to ge a Guest, why is that?

Hello All!
Here is something that may help as summary of the paperwork needed, from a slide that was used in various presentations and meeting

Repeating text for links with comments regarding fees
Contributors:
· Eclipse Contributor Agreement - that’s all and it is free!
Once you are selected to become a committer Eclipse Foundation will guide you through the process, but in a nutshell here is what will be required the following
Committers:
· Working Group Participation Agreement executed by an employer only (member of the Jakarta EE Working Group), so practically no paperwork for the employee, a fee is associated for the employer only!
or
· Individual Working Group Participation Agreement - that’s all and it is free!
Committers employed by a company that is not a participant in the Jakarta EE working group, or even not an Eclipse Foundation Member, will additionally need
Employer Consent Agreement - NO fee is associated for the employer!
Dear Jakarta EE WG,
some weeks back we had the case when Romain had to stop committing to Jakarta EE repositories as he changed employers. The EF wanted to force his new employer to become an member and pay fees, where actually it only was Romain who wanted to contribute but not the company as a whole entity. You announces to change contracts so in future it shall be possible for everybody, volunteer just as employee, to commit to Jakarta EE repositories without ANY enforced membership and / or fees.
I want to post a (v/b)log entry about this topic, so everybody knows the current situation. For this, I need the official clarification:
Is it possible NOW to commit to Jakarta EE repositories for everybody without a forced membership and without any paid fees?
If not, WHEN will this be possible?
For the future of Jakarta EE this is an essential question.
Thanks!
-Markus
