Not sure, if you're obliged to write it from scratch even where the license (Apache 2.0) would otherwise seem compatible e.g. with JBatch? Of course it is good to have more than one, thus it could also be good to create more than one compatible implementation of NoSQL instead of convincing the first implementation to change its name (beside a few "unnamed" ones Arjan's list also highlights there is at least "JBatch" with exactly that naming pattern)
We use BatchEE for the Jakarta Batch implementation. We don't currently have plans to implement Jakarta NoSQL. Once we get through Jakarta EE 8 and 9 web profile certification we can evaluate again. More than likely we'll push on to Jakarta EE 9 Platform certification. There'll be work for 9.1 release that will also compete. Once we get on the other side of all that, we're more than likely to focus on some of the Jakarta Messaging work.
In terms of naming conventions for projects, that's another change of topic. Completely fine to discuss it, but let's at least start another thread.

Good to hear, you're onto it. Also interesting to learn, if Oracle has plans to certify Weblogic because from that list I believe only TomEE and Weblogic are not yet certified against Jakarta EE 8.
Soteria is also an example for a spec with mainly one implementation until recently, so if more than one exists it is also a good precedent for others like MVC, NoSQL etc.
Agree it's really great to have more than one implementation. In a handful of other cases like CDI, Bean Validation, JSON-P, JSON-B, Activation, Mail, etc the only other implementation is the one shipped in TomEE, which is good for the industry but does slow us down.
