Minutes

·       [David] Update on Jakarta EE 9 Release

o   https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1YTUpfdLZZrk2_UGwoX2w0seOCueRO3sQJIjWxpDAa7g/edit#gid=0

o   https://jakarta.ee/committees/specification/ -- Specification members who can cast votes are listed on this page.

o   Anyone from the community may vote, but the committee members' votes are tallied as described in the Eclipse Foundation Specification Process for approving any proposed ballot.

o   Important mailing lists for helping:

§  Where to find the lists for individual specs

·       https://jakarta.ee/connect/mailing-lists/

§  Where to bring questions that span all specs

·       https://accounts.eclipse.org/mailing-list/jakartaee-spec-project-leads

§  Where final ballot voting is happening

·       https://accounts.eclipse.org/mailing-list/jakarta.ee-spec

·       [Amelia] Question: How does Jakarta EE 9 Release affect  the Jakarta EE 10 Release? Lessons learned…  Considerations

·       Anyone wanting to help with features in 10 ought to help on EE 9

·       Documentation is happening but not as it should. Everyone is too busy to track the process of getting stuff done.

·       [TCK work- Scott M./Amelia]  A few Jakartees initiated public private 1hr calls. Minutes with call access HERE. Lots of valuable work is being pushed forward on those conversations, the Jakarta EE TCK mailing list is used for updates and final votes, etc.

o   Keyword.properties changes for optional (e.g. Jakarta XML Binding, Remote EJB interfaces leveraging javax.rmi) and removed technologies (e.g. CORBA/RMIIOP).  After opening the keyword.properties link, search for `using-keywords-to-create-groups-and-subsets-of-tests`.

§  The confusion sets in when considering how to run tests that use java.rmi classes which are still part of Java SE 8 but not required/optional for Jakarta EE 9 Platform or Web Profile specifications.

§  For example it no longer makes sense to enable tests under com/sun/ts/tests/connector/localTx/transaction via `javaee_optional` since interoperability is not required, instead we will introduce `rmi_iiop_optional` or `rmi_iiop` keyword (still discussing...)

§  TCK status wiki page will be updated soon with this week's results.

§  https://github.com/eclipse-ee4j/jakartaee-tck/pull/452 and question about assertion ids

·       Javadoc assertions are captured in xml file, that is used to generate assertion.html

·       Assertions can also be for SPEC API requirements

·       [Amelia] Subscribing to the TCK mailing list [as of 9/22 95v subscribers- number has increased +15 since the conversations started. :) ]  is crucial to help with current TCK conversations https://accounts.eclipse.org/mailing-list/jakartaee-tck-dev

·       [Cesar] Collateral repository status (not discussed)

Thanks

Hussain
