Personally I think it is fine for people to add value where and how they best feel they can. In the Jakarta EE Ambassadors we do try to keep a deliberate balance in not becoming too vendor centric. In particular we do ask that vendors have a truly independent voice in the context of the Ambassadors in order to be true to our independent and grassroots nature.

I think that's difficult in some cases so some due caution is a very good thing. By the way, we have seen such due caution from Eclipse Foundation staff as well and it is appreciated. This frankly applies to me as well as a Microsoft employee (but one that has and does make a point to contribute as an individual). It is not an easy balance to keep in ones mind.

To make it extra confusing having yet another Jakarta EE group. Why didn't Amelia just join the Jakarta Ambassadors?

Ed,

I believe you asked that before.

The "Friends of Jakarta EE" is a kind of gathering or initiative by Amelia. A loose "Hashtag initiative" like the "Usual Suspects" I'd say ;-)
I don't think the Jakarta EE Ambassadors (https://jakartaee-ambassadors.io/who-we-are/ over 2000, including the likes of James Gosling) are prevented from joining those calls if they like, but there is no relationship or affiliation between them.

What is the difference between Jakarta EE Friends and Jakarta EE Ambassadors? Are these the same people? Do they overlap?
