Re: [iot-wg] Why use concierge?

The main issue I see is that a lot of Eclipse bundles have hard-coded dependencies on org.eclipse.osgi, and a lot of Eclipse developers do that without thinking about it. If these bundles run on Concierge then there isn't a problem. If not we should do a better job at raising awareness to ensure our talented pool of bundle developers can bring their wares to the IoT space.

It's no slight against Concierge, just my architect instincts wanting to understand this apparent duplication and how it affects potential design ideas and the ecosystem.

What do we mean by "optimised"? Couldn't we not go through and do that optimization to address the size of Equinox? Or are there big architectural differences that makes it harder to do with Equinox?

I don't understand why anyone cares? Concierge was specifically designed to be a lightweight OSGi container for embedded applications. Equinox has never been successful there. If some Eclipse projects want to try out Concierge, that is just great thank you very much.
