However, the equinox console with (accompanied by felix gogo bundles) has lots of bug fixes so I recommend it.

I've just downloaded the recent release version of equinox and tried to follow the quick start guide, but even launching OSGI console didn't work for me.
I tried to launch it like that:

$ java -jar org.eclipse.osgi_3.10.1.v20140909-1633.jar -console

and it didn't return anything, it seems like it launched but not returned a console.

I'm running ubuntu 14.04 x64 and have OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.5.2) (7u65-2.5.2-3~14.04) installed.

Any suggestions?
