It is an interesting trend in general, but hard to say which particular languages will actually gain traction. For example last year I remember buzz about Clojure but this year I see no talks on it. Anyway, I could say a lot more on this but I would really need a beer in front of me ;)

Twitter is an echo chamber... everyone on twitter hears that the things they care about are important!

Based on the average PC vote it looks like you are right. I have switched mine in favor of the Ceylon language talk which is now at 3.7. We could always ask the authors to combine the talks and give a more balanced picture of the language and how its tools were built.
