Since especially ALM tools by large vendors become more and more specific or see very popular ones like JIRA greedy and also more enclosed to proprietary/paid solutions only, it's good to leave a choice here.
The idea of Mylyn connectors as abstraction is good as long as it works for more than just Bugzilla in open-source ecosystems ;-)

This is true. And that is why we have added a requirement for "freedom
of action" for all infrastructure. If GitHub was to go away tomorrow, we
will need to be able for all affected Eclipse projects to be able to
continue unabated.

Agree 100%. Much careful thinking went into this.

So would we all. But since an industrial-grade ALM management project
has not yet appeared, we have to deal with the facts as they are.
