The Eclipse Foundation is organizing a
new series of DemoCamps during the month of June to celebrate the Ganymede
release. The idea behind the DemoCamps is similar to the BarCamp concept - an
informal, ad-hoc gathering of people in the Eclipse community. The Eclipse
DemoCamps should encourage individuals to demo the
interesting products, applications, tools or widgets they’re building on
Eclipse.
We would like to ask for your help in organizing an Eclipse DemoCamp
in your city. Organizers will be responsible for finding a location
(usually an office, university or local pub), providing a projector and screen
for the demos and promoting the DemoCamp to the local
Eclipse community. The Eclipse Foundation will sponsor the event up to $250
per city. More information about being an organizer
can be found here.
For this edition of DemoCamps, we are trying something new
and are encouraging organizers to find outside corporate sponsorship in
addition to Eclipse funding. For any Eclipse member company that sponsors $250
or more, their logo will be posted on the DemoCamp’s wiki page. All
sponsors will also be acknowledged at the DemoCamp itself.
Our hope is that this will be a great way for local Eclipse communities to
connect, share ideas and celebrate Ganymede. We hope you agree and will
help volunteer to organize or sponsor an event in your
city. Please feel free to contact me if you are interested or if you have any questions.
