+1
Agree with the approach and IMHO it is consistent with the approach
taken for last year’s conference.

If some existing guidelines are posted, I
expect Bjorn can point us to them.
If they’re simply demonstrating a commercial product, a Long Talk is not the
right venue, imho (there are sponsored talks, an exhibit hall, commercial
conferences, etc.). It may be appropriate for a commercial product to be
mentioned (e.g. in the context of an “our experiences building on project X”
talk), but not if it’s going to be a commercial pitch.
Personally, I don’t attend EclipseCon talks expecting to be subjected to
commercial product demos, as I imagine is the case for most attendees. I
also attend EclipseCon to hear about Eclipse and related technologies, not
alternatives. If it’s a comparative talk, that’s fine, but not if it’s
just about the alternative (for similar reasons as for commercial demos).
Does anyone disagree?
Best,
Rich

Hi Program Committee:
What are the guidelines for Long Talks that sound like they may contain
commercial product demonstrations or that sound like they may be products
positioned as alternatives to Eclipse projects?
