[eclipse.org-committers] Collaborating with you to make the Eclipse Development Process better
|
Greetings Eclipse Committers,
I have been working on some changes to the Eclipse Development Process
(EDP) [1] that I intend to introduce at EclipseCon. I am blogging
(though not as frequently as I'd like) about the changes [2]; further
several bugs have been opened [3] to track discussion. I am particularly
focused on simplifying/changing the definition of Project to align more
closely with what Eclipse projects are actually doing, and supporting a
formal notion of "perpetual incubators".
We have underlying principles that must continue to guide us:
transparency, openness, quality, IP cleanliness, and the development of
healthy committer, adopter, and user communities will continue to be
the foundation upon which the EDP is based. With that in mind,
everything is open for discussion.
I ask for your participation in this process. Please comment on the blog
entries, and bugs. Please open your own bugs against Community/Process
so that your voice can be heard. Please send me direct email with your
comments and concerns (though it's always better to use a transparent
forum).
Together, I know that we can improve the EDP to make life better for our
entire community.
Thanks,
Wayne
While I have your attention, I have been asked by Prof. Dr. Dirk Riehle
to ask you to fill out a short survey [4]. If you have the time please
spend a few minutes to help Dr. Riehle assesses code contribution
behaviour (commits) in open and closed source software projects.
