RE: [eclipse.org-committers] [Survey] What is appropriate use of thislist ?

and in line with the tendency seen in the Survey [2], I have
requested
creation of a new mailing list via bugzilla
[3]:
eclipse.org-committers-announce
to which all committers are auto-subscribed, and which
is exclusively
used for foundation announcements.
The existing committers list should be
re-interpreted as a medium
for free questions and discussions among committers.
This acknowledges
the need for creating more of a Committer Community,
since the recent
discussions have shown immense benefit from the
original questions. It
also acknowledges the fact that a mailing list
works quite well for such
discussions, and that many committers may have an
auto-filter for this
list already (and popping announcements into their
inbox is likely less
disturbing).
I'm not in favor of allowing committers to unsubscribe
from the committers
mailing list, even if it is just a free discussion
medium. Committers are
encouraged to use their own E-mail filtering tools
instead.

I created this site to sum up the
opinions of those of you who took time to express themselves about "What is
appropriate use of this list ?"

spreadsheet ( with charts**, because we love charts as much as screenshots
: )
For the moment 60 people have answered : about 6.5% of this list -
which is not very representative ( I had to point this out ).
I will
also add the additionnal proposals in a near future.

I read a lot of good proposal so far and I would like to
get everyone's opinion. To make this debate more democratic I created a
