I have posted an updated version of the
slides with answers, but I'll also answer them here to save you hunting
- Server requires Java SE 6. Most of
our own server code runs Java SE 5, but some third party libraries (notably
Apache Solr) require Java 6.
- There is a fairly detailed server
administration guide included in the Orion Developer Guide. I've included
a note on this.
- I added mentions of orion.eclipse.org
(our self-hosting server for Orion committers ), and orionhub.org (public
beta server available to general public, managed by Eclipse Foundation)
- planetorion.org is just a blog, which
Eclipse Foundation does not host. I am currently registering and managing
that domain personally.

There’s 2 questions that
remained open for me after reading the docuware:
Browser target env is documented to some extent, but what’s the
prerequisites on the server side for running an orion server (Just j2SE-1.5
I’d assume? Anything else? Is it documented how to setup a server?)
Anything about the current “test server infrastructure” … who
hosts planetorion.org for instance? The orion testbed for committers might
be worth mentioning.

I am requesting PMC approval for an Orion 0.2 release review. Please ask
