Re: [ecf-dev] An ECF feature for the platform?
|
It turns out that Andrew N. raised other concerns over out ability to require plug-ins instead of including them wrt to PDE Build and ppl building applications.
As such we will be continuing to include the ECF bundles in the p2 feature for 3.4.

Such a base feature is easily enough created...I've already created it
in /cvsroot/technology/ecf/features/org.eclipse.ecf.base-feature

Yes, it is...but we've got some custom scripts in there to use
cruisecontrol, create update site, do signing, etc., etc. that is
sensitive to features. Also, Ted (who has been doing the build heavy
lifting) and I have been going to some trouble to get our build creating
a p2 integration build, along with a 3.4-compatible build (that leaves
out the six ECF plugins that are now in platform), and a 3.3 compatible
build (that includes these six, since they are obviously not in 3.3 sdk).
So I don't think we could do this immediately (i.e. before next Monday's
integration build), although perhaps with some nice words (or $$ even
better :) from Equinox/IBM/Pascal/p2 we could do it. But it causes us
significant churn at a time...i.e. Ganymede approaching...reviews, etc.
when we want to buckle down and get things more fully tested with
automating our test suite, etc with our existing build.
Maybe we should have a phone or Skype chat about this Pascal.
