Re: [cross-project-issues-dev] Local build jobs pulling bits from mirrors

You guys have any suggestion to improve this process? :)
You can use different protocols for SVN: https://, svn://, file://
https:// is the slowest, and i believe file:// is the fastest.
On Eclipse servers, you can use file:///svnroot/... because the SVN root is mounted on /svnroot

Hi guys,

I just want to check if I understand it correctly:
if I perform an SVN checkout from my trunk, am I pulling the plugins from mirrors, as you said?

On our build process we perform a new checkout each time we build, because we had problems with only updating in the past. When we made this new build process, I searched a little on how to checkout "internally", but I didn't find anything. So, we keep doing our checkouts from URL.

Our build actually takes almost as much time checkouting as building.

This week alone I've seen three cases of local builds (on and that pull plugins from our mirror sites.

That is pure madness.

The Eclipse servers (build, dev, git, download) all share a Gigabit LAN, so there is no need to download from mirror sites.  In fact, doing so uses our precious Internet bandwidth, and the bandwidth of our mirrors.

Please work with me to make this stop.  I'd hate to have to impose restrictions on our firewalls to prevent this.  I have opened to help track the issue.
