Re: [cdt-dev] pipeline jobs

That would be cool. Give me incentive to spend some time on things. Which I guess is why it's so important to invest in our infrastructure to make it easier for people to get involved. (A topic for my next article ☺)

No to both questions - I will put something together as I make the updates between now and Monday.

Do you want me to switch CDT master to consume latest launchbar and/or tools.templates while I am at it?

Agreed. Makes sense to have the master builds available on the downloads site. Do we have the list of URL's that people can reference? Do we have a wiki page somewhere describing how adopters can consume the CDT?

Thanks!
Doug.

Hi Doug,

We can change the build to be against latest (nightly) build of deps. It is really important that around branch/release time that we change it back to versioned p2 repos though. At the moment there are some older branches of CDT still pointing at latest jenkins which means they don't build. I also strongly prefer that we point at download.eclipse.org/tools/cdt because in the past I have found that Jenkins is a lot less stable at being an artifact server and the builds should be uploading immediately to download.e.o anyway.

However the overridding thing is to make sure if there is active development on any components it is as easy as possible to do that development. So please do let me know if I can reduce any friction.

Thanks,
Jonah

Cool, done.

I am a bit concerned that cdt-master isn't building against the latest builds of our dependencies, especially the closer ones. I want to do some work with remote targets with the launch bar and CDT in this release and/or next so will need to keep an eye on it.

Thanks!
Doug.

Yes, please go ahead and do the renames whenever you like. I have been adding "archive-" to the front of the original names.

Cool, that was quick! My team hadn't got around to reviewing my pom change yet ☺.

I notice the launchbar-master and the tools-template-master aren't done yet. Are you going to do those too or do you want me to handle that (which is fine)?

I have renamed the main jobs.

You can now access the most recent build from jenkins with https://ci.eclipse.org/cdt/job/cdt-master/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/

Hi Doug

I gave them new names during the switch so it was easy to tell which was the new jobs. But you're right it would probably be worth renaming them now everything is switched and "archiving" old jobs.

I won't do it right now as I know Jonah is preparing for a release so probably won't want all the jobs he's trying to use being renamed.

William

Subject: [cdt-dev] pipeline jobs

Hey William,

I see (now that my upstream mirror job fails :), yes, I know Jenkins isn't an artifact server, except that it does a good job of that anyway) that the jobs how have -pipeline in their names. Are we planning on switch out the old jobs and renaming the new ones back to their old names?

Thanks!
Doug.
