Our system currently cannot manage multiple "personas" for an individual. From our system's perspective, your two different accounts appear as two different people. 

My strong preference is that you consider your alternative persona as a contributor who makes pull requests and let your committer self merge them.

If you want to pursue this regardless... to achieve what you want, we would need the project team to elect you as a committer. As a current committer, you can, in fact, elect your other self and get at least two more people from the project team to vote in favour. 

I recommend discussing this with the team. Somebody is bound to get confused.

When you are successful, you will appear twice on the project's Who's Involved page. Our metrics gathering processes may also get confused by the multiple personas. In some manner or another, at some point somebody will see this and get confused, so be prepared to explain it periodically. I don't think that we currently have any projects where one individual is a committer under different personas, so I don't have an example to show you. 

The ideal solution is to support multiple personas for committers. We have discussed this previously but haven't prioritised implementation. FWIW, we are asked for this sort of feature very infrequently. I recall that we have an open issue, but it's quite old (it may be in Bugzilla) and I can't find it right now. It would be helpful if you could open an issue on the helpdesk; if others weigh it, it will help us prioritise work.

FWIW, if you push commits under the incorrect persona, fixing/changing that will require rewriting history. Rewriting history is something that we consider extremely exceptional.

I am not sure if I understood you correctly.

You have 2 different Eclipse accounts: one for work-related tasks and one for personal/private contributions, correct?

Currently, you are a committer in OpenBSW with your work-related account.
You would like to swap your work-related account with your private account, or add your private account as a second committer account to the project, correct?

I will need to clarify the official process with the Eclipse Foundation, as I am not sure if account swapping or directly adding a secondary account without an election is possible.

Generally speaking, within Eclipse projects, committer status is granted to an individual rather than an account or employer, but rights are tied to a specific registered account. Usually, if you want to contribute under a different account, either a new committer election is required for that second account, or the primary email address/account details on your existing committer profile need to be updated directly via Eclipse Account Management.

I will get back to you as soon as I have an official update.
