Re: [viatra-dev] (Modisco) Question about dependencies from Viatra components to Modiso components

Hi Fabien,

first of all, thanks for contacting us about these changes.

The mentioned plug-in was introduced in 2015 to make sure we can execute queries loaded with the `EMF Facet Model Browser` editor [1], but then this integration was kind of forgotten, and we know of very few actual uses of this component (including use by the original committer proposing and implementing the feature). Based on these finding, when VIATRA has joined SimRel, we explicitly choose not to include it in the repository.

When starting the work with VIATRA 2.0, we had some internal discussions removing some experimental plug-ins, and we had some limited internal discussions about this integration feature as well. We did not remove the plugin, although we had some internal discussions questioning whether we need it or not. However, if you are planning to remove it from simrel, and potentially also archiving it, I guess, we should think of retiring this integration.

To summarize, (1) feel free to remove Modisco from SimRel, it will not cause any issues with regards to VIATRA, and (2) thanks for contacting us about the change.

Best regards,
Zoltán
