[viatra-dev] (Modisco) Question about dependencies from Viatra component

Hello,

 

we have some question about one dependency form Viatra components to Modiso eclipse project components.

Modisco project, and required EMFFacet project, have become mature. They are currently contributing to the release train (in 2018-09).

Related contributors teams have decided to reduce their development/maintenance efforts -> a first whished step is to exit from eclipse quarterly release train. A second step may be to archive the both eclipse projects (not decided now).

 

We see that some Viatra feature has a dependency to Modisco :

• org.eclipse.viatra.integration.modisco.feature (in 0.21.0.201810131131, from updatesite contributing to simrel 2018-12, http://download.eclipse.org/viatra/updates/release/2.0.2)

 

This feature is not included in main Viatra feature (org.eclipse.viatra.query.sdk.feature), and so removing Modisco from git.eclipse.org:29418/simrel/org.eclipse.simrel.build.git/simrel.aggr does not break “validate aggregation” result in CBI Aggregator Editor.

 

We wish to have some feedback from Viatra developers team in

• Confirming that “viatra integration modisco” feature was really not intended to be part of the Eclipse release composite update site (in http://download.eclipse.org/releases/2018-12, and futures)
• Giving point of view about impacts in Viatra, if any
