Re: [udig-users] buffering with uDig

Ah yes JTS is programatic. The Axios tool are the may be able to
help. They certainly have buffer and intersection operations.

But JTS can do this just programmatically? My question was if I can
do this job out of the running uDig applicaton as user?
Silvia Franceschi gave me the hint that this plugin (http://udig.refractions.net/confluence/display/COM/Spatial+Operations+and+Editing+Tools
) would help me.
Thanks & regards,

I think this is mostly a JTS question. With JTS you can create a
geometry which is derived by buffering the feature's Geometry.
Then you can use that to do a query using that feature. An
Intersects query is probably what you need.

Dear all,
is it possible to use buffering in uDig to select features in a
certain area?
I have a shapefile that contains the districts of an european
island. I'm interested in all areas that are at least 10km away
from coastline. To do this:
1) create on large feature based on all other
2) buffering 10km from the edge of this feature (not buffering
along the area of this feature: this would cover everything)
3) having the initial set of all features I must remove those of
(2) and then just the inner ones (at least 10km away from coastline)
How can I do this?
Thank you,
Jürgen
