Interesting conflict - this would be a great case for the MapBox to hold 
a second ViewPort
into an existing map.

I would treat this one as a bug Andrea, MapBox respect what is going on 
with the Map.
If it really wants it should listen to the viewport model changes and 
show the same area
as the map viewport changes.
