I looked at the fix and it is safe since it is just adding one import package for a package from the JRE.
The fix does not impact p2 when run in eclipse, but the absence of this fix can cause problems when p2 is run starting Equinox directly. This is the because the default setting for boot delegation are not the same in plain Equinox or when Equinox is run in eclipse.
As for going forward, please open a bug in p2 with the appropriate map files for us to consume and I will request a rebuild, with the appropriate entries updated in the p2 map files.
