As we prepare to restart the Eclipse OMR release process, we want to ensure the project is functioning as effectively as possible.  Committer engagement is one measure of the health of the project.

 

To that end, following Eclipse Foundation project guidelines, the Eclipse OMR project will institute a minimum standard of participation that committers must meet to maintain their active committer status.

 

Eclipse OMR committers are expected to meet at least one of the following criteria within a consecutive 9-month period:

* Review and merge at least one pull request, or

* Author and contribute at least one pull request, or

* Participate in at least 25% of OMR Architecture Meetings (attendance of meeting participants will be recorded in all future meetings)

* Other documented contributions not reflected in the above may be considered on a case-by-case basis.  For example, significant contributions to the design of a feature, or assistance resolving a defect, or project advocacy work.

 

This standard will be in place as of Feb 16, 2024 which means it won’t begin to be audited until Nov. 16, 2024.  The participation standard will be documented in the docs/GuideForCommitters.md file.

 

Committers that are unable to meet the minimum participation standard will be retired as committers by project leadership following notification on the omr-dev mailing list and a 1-week grace period.

 

As a committer, if you know you will no longer be able to contribute to Eclipse OMR, you may voluntarily retire your committer status from the Eclipse OMR project page (https://projects.eclipse.org/projects/technology.omr/who) by clicking your picture and selecting and submitting the retirement box.  More details are here -> https://www.eclipse.org/projects/handbook/#elections-retire-cm  We thank you for your past contributions!
