Re: [glassfish-dev] GlassFish OSGi Console and composability

Hi,

One of these indeed, maybe it was "deployment_all" even, it's a while ago.

Kind regards,

Thanks! I guess you mean the "ql_gf_nucleus_all" and "nucleus_admin_all" tests, no?

Hi,

This kinda was the original idea. There even was a test for this in GF 5, and I fixed a few bugs in it even along the way.

Currently this test is disabled, but it’s still listed in the Jenkins file in the root of GF.

Maybe the first step would be to try to get this test working again.

Kind regards,

Hi,

Never had the chance to try it, but GlassFish used to have an OSGi Console plugin, that enabled an admin GUI for enabled/disabling bundles. I always wondered whether that plugin could be used to create a lighter version of GlassFish, by removing unneeded features.

If that's possible, and having the complete dependency graph from a full blown GlassFish, one could create a tool that allows you to create a GlassFish distribution from scratch.

Does this make any sense or would it be way more complicated than I'm painting it?
